Productive Day in the Studio

I have a big project in the works and have been busy planning and studying and preparing ~ I needed a mental and creative break to just let my inspiration lead me and play in my art journals and glue books.

I am finding my voice and trusting my intuition.

Documented Life ~ Challenge #17 {Favorite Shoes}

I am new to drawing.  I was pleasantly surprised by the leopard spots!

Detail of Flow Book for Paper Lovers sticker and vintage
orange appliqué sent to me by my Tea Club pen pal.

Tea Club

I'm in a Pen Pal / Happy Mail Tea Club where we send each other art journal ephemera and organic teas to try each month, at the new moon.  It's so much fun!
Here are some goodies I have received:

I'm making creative use of this rainy Friday...

I spent a leisurely morning warming up my creative motor with line and color...

...then launched into this week's Documented Life challenge: Incorporating a cardboard food box into my planner.  Here, a Numi Organic Chai box, packaging from a set of stickers, a bluejeans label and magazine cutouts.  I'm in love with the Holbein acrylic paint color luminous violet, seen here on the tip-in page.

The rest of my weekend will be spent in Bible study and preparing for Made 2014.

Art Journal

This layout took several days to complete.  Journaling under layers of acrylic paint, embellished with a magazine cutout and some alpha stickers I got at Home Depot.

I miss working in my glue book every week.

I've been doing self-guided bible study these past few weeks and am studying Matthew ~ reading about his time in the wilderness this morning.  In the wilderness is where our characters are revealed and where we find the true measure of ourselves.

Blue Hexagon has been a busy bee this weekend.

Beaded earrings and a prototype bracelet that will be mine because it was not 100% perfect (I don't mind flaws) ~ the rest for the shops!

More sweet orange soy candles ~ new and improved ~ 3X Smellier!
Also, improved lid adhesive ~ it takes some sticking' to stay put in the Florida heat & humidity!

Project Life ~ Week 12

I accidentally uploaded my square Instagram photos as 4x6's ~ during the middle of the night this week when I was up ~ so I just lazed out and used them as 4x6 Project Life photos with minimal embellishment and called it a day (or a week).  My plate is so full, I am happy to embrace ease and simplicity where I can find it.

Also, I'm not thrilled with the photo quality I've been getting from my local drugstore, so I'm planning to try Instaprint next.  That will slow down my process (the drugstore prints them same day and Instaprint is through the mail) but the superior quality will be well worth the wait (and the cost).
