I had SO many housework and practical tasks to do yesterday
(most of which I accomplished) but I just could not stay
away from my gluebook!

I call it, "active procrastination," and I'm very good at it!

tinseled pipe cleaner, tulip petals, archival ink, tissue paper

A soul collage I made in Saturday's episode of the six-week spring Art + Soul
writing and collage series with Women Writing for (a) Change Jacksonville.

The spring series is all about seeds, roots, blooms and harvest,
inspired by Gail Brandeis' Fruit Flesh.

The workshop is led by the talented and lovely Jennifer Wolfe.

I used real tulip petals in this collage.
I'm curious to see how they turn out as they dry.

Tea Time

For the last month or so, I have been enjoying afternoon tea
at 4:00 pm on the days that I am home.

It's a wonderful ritual and a time for quiet reflection, a slowing down of the day,
a refuge from hectic rush and busy-ness.

It is also a form of self-care and a nurturing of the wife/mother/artist/writer/worker that lives inside me; a way to refuel and recharge.

This is a ritual that is here to stay in my life.

"Staycation" Day.

Today has been a relaxing, yet productive, day at home
in the studio.

I completed some small painting jobs (chalk paint!), reorganized the studio (again!), planned some household projects and hung out with the kids.

Quiet days at home are like gold.

Washi Tape!

I keep rearranging my washi tape collection, which has quickly outgrown
the cute little carousel dispenser I got for my birthday last year.

JoAnn Fabric carries thread spool racks and I got the biggest one they had ~
although it's still not big enough for all my tape!
