Vintage Flea Market Haul!

On a whim, I stopped by a local Flea Market very
near my house, but which I had never visited in the
16 years I've lived in this house!

Talk about a gem...

I found all of these vintage books for less than $30 total!

Vintage lace & crochet haul, $20.

I'll be going back again soon!

Art Retreat at Sandra Kaye's House!

The (first of many, I hope!) Art Retreats was held at
Sandra Kaye's house this weekend. Sandra, Darlene Winter,
our friend Kelley and I had a wonderful time working on
our art journals, eating gluten-free pizza (and other snacks@),
chatting, watching movies, walking on the beach
and much more!

I can't wait until the next retreat!

My Commonplace Book, a new (to me) type
of art journal introduced to the group by Kelley.

A Commonplace Book is a place to put quotes,
ideas, thoughts and daily insights.

I made my cover out of a repurposed vintage book cover and
some metal rings.

Stay tuned for more posts about my Commonplace Book...

During the retreat, the lovely and talented Darlene Winter
gave us a mini-class on dyeing vintage ribbon with

FUN!!!

The last night of the retreat, we ate at a beachfront seafood
restaurant, Joe's Crab Shack, then went for a relaxing walk on the beach.

Gelli Plate Class

I spent part of my Saturday enjoying a wonderful
Gelli Plate art printing class taught by the very
talented Christy Hawkins and sponsored by

The class was lots of fun and I learned
many new techniques, including making
mark-making and texturizing tools from household objects.

I can't wait to take another of Christy's classes!

Mixed Media Art Journal

I'm trying to introduce more "white space" into my art,
my space, my schedule, my life.

The architectural drawing in the background of
this page was gifted to me by the fabulous
and talented Darlene Winter, as was
this gorgeous bookmark, below:

First Mini Quilt ~ Finished!

I free-motion quilted the top of my Primitive Pinwheels
mini quilt with spirals and shadow quilting along
the outside, as suggested by my fabulously
talented and patient quilt teacher Sandra Kaye.

Here's the back (with a pop of Kaffe Fassett fabric)
of my yummy little quilt, pending only the binding...

My "starter" mini fabric stash is growing a little each day...

Road Trip ~ to Mt. Dora!

After having a great time there last February, my friends
Sandra KayeDarlene Winter and I went back to

These vintage books and magazines were
awesome, although out of my price range,
so I had to be satisfied with an Instagram photograph of them.

Vintage Adding Machine Keys

After we worked over the antiques, we went to this
fabulous quilt shop, Sew Mini Things, in Mt. Dora.

This gorgeous Liberty London art fabric was
$46.00/yard so, again, I had to be satisfied with
only a photograph, LOL.

I did get some fun fabric scraps to play with, though!

We'll be going back to central Florida soon, I'm sure!
